The current urine-and-lead Paint recipe feels like a good candidate to move to Chemistry. Knowing how to turn the chemical contents of urine into a usable paint strikes me as more chemist-coded knowledge than something an ordinary painter would be expected to know.
For the actual Painting skill, I’d suggest adding more conventional recipes using the pigments the skill already produces, such as:
- Pigment + Oil = Paint
- Pigment + Glue = Paint
These recipes have more common real-world precedents. Oil paint originated as pigments suspended in drying oils, and glue-based paints were made by mixing pigments with animal glue or other adhesives.
Both would have useful inter-skill dependencies and are common historically established paint-making methods.
The current recipe could stay as the clever survivor chemist's workaround. The more eloquent painter may perhaps be forgiven for preferring a method that does not begin by soliciting the usage of a sufficiently productive chamber pot.
