my take with my character: around 60 combat skills, 30 medics.
Up now the system is a bit confusing sometimes, but it works: it's hard to understand when the procedure will allow you to use items, also the "finalize" part is unclear, i've even left untreated some wounds and effectively applied items more than once up to heal all the wound.
Since bandages are also used to heal wounds, it's hard at start to think you can also use them to heal HP as usual.
Some kind of wounds seems a lot harder to clear than others: between the suppression of pain (wich is easy, honestly) and the use of techniques, with my skill is very easy to treat pain on most wounds, infection comes second, then mobility. Bleed honestly i think i saw as a wound like 2 or 3 times since start, so that's probably something to address, but it also seems easier to treat (bandages again).
I was told that with some more skill, mobility becomes a lot easier to treat because items used, but if i need 50 skill to treat that wound, obviously it becomes one of the harder to treat.
Up now, bandaging during combat worked pretty well for me: damage healed is solid (even 35-40 hp in a go) and i am not using anything special for that, tho it takes some time to apply and then the cooldown to heal again might be a problem. Overall tho, medicine seems a lot better than toughness to heal during fights, as it works as is even with relatively low skill, and more than that, it works on others too, then there are perks from other skills that applies, and items can help too.
For me, crafting bandages is very easy so i do not second that having them is a problem: i can craft very easily hundreds of them in a pinch.
What i'd like to see: sometimes we should get wounds from things like "critical hits", because atm having high skills prevent to be knocked out a lot, and treating wounds is easy enough.
