When we started, we said this beta would run a few months and then close for internal dev. After a lot of bug fixes, tweaking, and tinkering, the game is stable. The game-breaking bugs and big exploits are squashed, and thanks to your feedback, most of our core systems have been worked through. There will always be more to add and polish, but this scenario has run its course on how much it can grow.
On your end, anything you want to canonize is we'll field the request. A location becomes permanent on the map, and what happens there becomes canon. We can help with special requests to give your characters some permanence in the world, such as:
So consider this the last call for playtesting: if you're sitting on notes or suggestions, now is the time. If you're not sure where things stand, log in and check out the changes, or just ask. Once we're on main, we want to focus on running the world, not stopping for major reviews or overhauls.
We're planning on closing the beta on October 10th and heading into full dev for a few months. We'll stay active on Discord and here for project updates as we go into internal dev.
This is also likely our last chance to test a live sandbox before main, so the difficulty curve and core loops are expected to be a bit harder there. If you've got thoughts on that, especially backed by what you actually crafted, gathered, or lost, and how long it took, now's the time to send it in. And if you're sitting on feedback and staying quiet, you're leaving the floor to whoever does speak up.
If you've already posted your suggestions, great, everything posted so far will be worked through during internal dev. If you posted it, it isn't forgotten, it's on the list. We've been juggling a lot and prioritizing the things that need a live audience to debug, so some items simply haven't had their turn yet.
Wrapping up narrative
Mechanical progress will be wiped when the beta closes, but we want your stories to outlast the scenario. We'll be working with active players on how they want to send their characters off.
We'll be coordinating a few in-game meetup times that final week to help wrap up active characters together. We'll use Discord to gauge availability for those active players to try and schedule.
On your end, anything you want to canonize is we'll field the request. A location becomes permanent on the map, and what happens there becomes canon. We can help with special requests to give your characters some permanence in the world, such as:
- Retiring your character as a permanent NPC with their own dialog tree.
- NPC dialog that references you, your deeds, or your group.
- "You were known for..." details built into a location.
- Props, books, journals, and letters turned into rare loot or set dressing.
- Lore books written as callbacks for the main game.
- Your written works carried over to main, kept with the active players who made them.
We can also work through this with you offline after close. That will be limited to play hours, so it's really for the active players.
If you have something in mind that isn't on this list, just ask. We'd rather build it with you than guess.
Thanks again for all the playtesting, it's been really fun. We've learned so much and hope to put it all towards the next phase.
